The customer texts (503) 832-6805 first. This number is published on this website, on invoices and on service paperwork. That inbound message is the opt-in. Shred Northwest never sends the first message to a number that has not texted us or given verbal consent.
First reply sent by Shred Northwest:

2. Verbal consent on a call or in person
When a customer calls (503) 669-0460 or a technician is on site, the representative reads this script word for word:
“Would you like Shred Northwest to text you about your quote, appointment and service updates at this number? Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel at any time. Our privacy policy is at shrednorthwest.com/privacy and our messaging terms are at shrednorthwest.com/terms. Do you agree, yes or no?”
Only if the customer answers yes, the representative records the mobile number, the consent, the date and time, and their own name in the customer record. The customer immediately receives this confirmation text:
