# Shred Northwest | Text Messaging Consent
## Why Do We Ask for Consent?
When a customer provides their phone number, we **don’t automatically assume they want to receive text messages**.
Before we start texting, we ask for verbal permission. It’s simple: we want to be clear about how we’ll communicate and make sure the customer stays in control.
By saying yes, the customer agrees to receive text messages from **Shred Northwest** about things like scheduling, service reminders, updates, quotes, and other communications related to their service.
## 📱 Phone Call Script
**Before ending the call, say:**
> “Before I let you go, is it okay if Shred Northwest sends you text messages at this number? We use texts for things like scheduling, service reminders, updates, quotes, and other messages about your service.
>
> Message frequency varies, and standard message and data rates may apply. You can always reply **STOP** to opt out or **HELP** for help. Signing up for texts isn’t required to use our services.
>
> Sound good?”
**Customer:** “Yes.”
**Shred Northwest:**
> “Perfect, you’re all set. Thanks!”
## What Is the Customer Agreeing To?
When the customer says **“Yes,”** they’re giving Shred Northwest permission to send text messages to the number they provided.
This **doesn’t require them to purchase anything or sign up for additional services**. Receiving texts is also not a requirement for doing business with Shred Northwest.
The customer stays in control. They can reply **STOP** at any time to stop receiving messages or **HELP** if they need assistance.
## Our Commitment to the Customer
Getting permission also means **Shred Northwest is making a commitment to the customer**.
We’ll use text messaging responsibly to make communication easier. Messages may include scheduling information, reminders, service updates, quotes, and other useful information related to their service.
The goal isn’t to fill someone’s phone with unnecessary messages. Texting should make working with Shred Northwest **simpler, faster, and more convenient**.
## The Simple Rule
**Ask → Get a clear “Yes” → Record consent → Then text.**
If the customer says **“No,”** isn’t sure, or doesn’t give us a clear yes, **don’t enroll them in text messaging**.
Their decision doesn’t affect their ability to use Shred Northwest services.
